“There is no way to happiness. Happiness is the way.”
– Buddha

Sounds a little like a Zen riddle, doesn’t it?

And while it may sound to some like some trite slogan, these two sentences carry a world of profound truth in them. One of the saddest things I’ve seen in my life is the amount of depression that people carry with them. And I would know: I suffered from depression throughout my early 20s.

If everyone wants to be happy, then why are so many people depressed?

Well, for starters, “happiness” becomes a place or destination that is sought out “somewhere else.” People literally and figuratively seek out happiness throughout their lives. They are searching for it -– the next lover, job, house, car, etc. — and are hopeful that such external pleasures will imbibe them with happiness. Can a new car make you happy? Sure. Such happiness might last a week or it might last a year, but it’ll be temporary.

YOU need everyone’s help to become successful - to realize your ideal future (period).

Since “no one is as smart as everyone” and inter-dependence (TEAMwork) is the highest form of maturity, (see maturity continuum, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey) you will, at some point in your life - come to recognize this truth, hopefully sooner rather than later.

The great news is, everyone will make you successful much faster than no one. So, if you think you can go it alone – you’re in for a rude awakening. This is elaborated upon fully in “The 3 C’s” - a sobering lesson for me indeed!

Respectfully submitted for your review are four images (above) to be mindful of as you interact with other people (yes, relatives are people too) on a daily basis. These four images are tied to various interpersonal anecdotes which provide sage guidance and insight for you along your way to creating your ideal future.

Peace begins with YOU

Character matters. Peace is realized through a carefully refined character. Balance equals harmony, harmony equals peace, peace equals love. To find peace therefore, your character must ‘know’ - must become balance and harmony and only through these you will know love. Character, refined character is the only path to inner peace which provides lifelong fulfillment. Resolve today to refine your character. Micro equals macro. To correct ourselves is to correct the planet. The only way you can make character corrections is to perform a thorough analysis of your character which presumes awareness,

“It’s a great day in a man’s life when he sits down and has a long talk with himself” ~ Napoleon Hill”The life unexamined is not worth living” ~ Socrates

It is no stretch to say that the extent to which you are able to develop these character traits and score highly on all these personal qualities will be proportional to your ability to realize enduring success.

If we could fast-forward 20 years, your overall satisfaction with your life would be directly proportional to your overall score on this page…
(excerpt: “The 3 C’s” eBook by Mitch W. Steel)

As a reaction to that statement and the general work involved in refining one’s character, most people typically begin to question the validity of this theory – and start to consider other people. They tend to say “what about… Nancy or Jim or… all the other examples of successful people who have not refined their character?”

The Profoundly Creative Experience

And the men who hold high places
must be the ones to start,
to mold a new reality – closer to the heart.
The blacksmith and the artist –
reflect it in their art,
they forge their creativity
Closer to the heart
“Closer to the heart” ~ Rush
~~~~~
If you want to create an apple pie from scratch
you first have to create the universe.
~Carl Sagan
Creativity – your essence.
The very word conjures up images of poets leisurely writing poems . . . artists with abundant talent painting masterpiece after masterpiece that future generations will come to admire.
A romantic version of creativity? You bet. Real? Not by a long shot! If creativity isn’t a word you associate with your everyday life or “SUCCESS” then it’s absolutely vital you change your mindset—now. Far too many people – before they even graduate high school have already begun to disassociate their creativity from their personality. Taught to assume a life of responsibility instead of creativity. You might have been led to believe that you will have to choose between living the creative life or living a practical life.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
To excel at any endeavor–particularly in the business world–it’s essential that you embrace your creative essence. *more* »
Stress Free Egret - by mikebaird
“What do you do?” he asked, wondering how I manage stress. I must have had a mouth full of food “meditate”, I told him. He nodded his head knowingly and said - “right, which ones?” I looked at him strangely. “What?” I said. He then said, “What kind of medications do you take?” I quickly chuckled. Then realizing the serious nature of his misunderstanding…
“No man MEDITATE not MEDICATE” I said.
One of the most common requests I get is from people asking for ways to better manage stress. These are stressful times - OILflation combined with the remnants of a housing bubble aren’t making it any easier for anyone!
The other day, I was having lunch with a very successful fortune 500 executive (mid acquisition). Frankly, this great man was stressed beyond belief as company politics had him a state of fear. He was concerned about some “higher-ups” and some moves they may make.
